Tyranny is the wish to have in one way what can only be had in another.
The idea of self as a kind of focus, or relatively unchanging core aspect of individual’s personalities, has given way to a much less static and more dynamic view of self as something which is constantly being reconstructed and renegotiated according to the experiences, situations and other people with whom we interact in everyday life.
That which we do is what we are. That which we remember is more often than not, that which we would like to have been, or that which we hope to be. Thus our memory and our identity are ever at odds, our history ever a tall tale told by inattentive idealists.
This Blog should really be called 'Musings'. It is 'For Me By Me' because I've picked them out and they mean something to me. Some postings I plan to author myself.
Expertise is a bit like truth: the most deadly weapon ever discovered by humanity. Capable of destroying entire perceptual sets, cultures, and realities. Outlawed by all governments everywhere. Possession is normally punishable by death.
